The Next Chapter: ZeroLight's Move to Generator Studios

After nine years calling Live Works our home, ZeroLight has moved to a new office space, and we are very excited to begin our next chapter at Generator Studios.

With the successful implementation of hybrid working for the past couple of years, we’ve found that our studio needs have changed over time. We no longer require the large footprint of our previous office (Live Works has 4 huge studios plus a breakout space). This time we’ve chosen a space that is better suited to our flexible work-life, which allows employees to choose whether to work from a collaborative studio space or from the quiet of their home office.

Generator Studios, located in a historic building that once powered Newcastle's transport links, is a perfect fit for us. The building is designed with the creative and tech industries in mind, offering a community-focused environment that fosters collaboration and innovation. We are particularly excited about the communal areas, meeting spaces, and breakout rooms which will support our team's dynamic working style. The studio also prioritizes the wellbeing of its tenants with amenities like weekly classes, free gym access, and a run club.

Moving a company is no small feat, and this transition was only possible thanks to the incredible effort of Rich, Lewis & Ian on our IT team, and Mandy, Mel, and Erin on our Talent Team, who worked tirelessly to ensure everything stayed on track. They faced the immense challenge of relocating an entire company on a very tight deadline while ensuring minimal disruption to staff and business operations.

Mandy was the mastermind behind the physical move, orchestrating everything from rubbish collections and movers to electricians. A big part of the operation involved relocating our four office pods and rebuilding them from scratch, which requires a specialist team, as well as dismantling and reassembling complex office desks. The goal was to get everyone back to work quickly, and thanks to their efforts, we welcomed staff to the new studio space after just a week of home working.

Meanwhile, the IT team navigated what was arguably the hardest job. They undertook the complex task of setting up all our systems at the new studio, which, with our exceptionally strict data security measures, was not an easy task. They undertook this whilst also keeping everyone working, ensuring limited downtime. It was a truly flawless effort that ensured a smooth and seamless transition for all staff.

We are currently in a temporary space within Generator Studios and are busy with basic renovations to our permanent office, and to make the space feel like home, Erin and Mandy took a trip to IKEA, bringing in much-needed greenery and pops of color to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for the team.

We look forward to settling into our new, custom-designed home before Christmas 2025. We are confident that this move will allow ZeroLight to continue thriving in a space that aligns with our company culture and future goals.
