On Saturday, we held our first Family Open Day at ZeroLight. The event was organised to give staff the chance to showcase our innovative projects in VR and virtualisation by demonstrating their work to family and friends in our new home, Live Works. This was one of the key employee requests that came from our regular focus groups - an opportunity for staff to show their family "what they do every day".
Studio Manager Melissa organised a day full of activity which included a demo in each of our studios for family and friends to try as they made their way around the building. Once they'd progressed to the top of the building, local food vendor Pimp My Pig cooked up an amazing BBQ on our Tyne-facing Terrace and incredible face-painting from Let's Face It North East kept the kids (and some of the adults) entertained throughout the afternoon. Our Terrace was transformed to accommodate the 100 plus attendees, with an open bar, unlimited snacks, VR Games and colouring-in!
Feedback from family included:
I thought it was a great showcase and a wonderful opportunity to see the company and the team. Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard getting it all ready!
Great chance to see what ZeroLight does and try virtual reality for the first time. The kids loved it!
The event was such a big success that there were calls to make it a regular fixture in the ZeroLight roster of staff social events, and it was great for everyone to come together and celebrate the success of ZeroLight so far.
