2019 has been one of the busiest years for ZeroLight to date, and we've taken a look back at everything the company have been up to over the last 12 months.
This year we travelled the world for lots of different events and client trips, starting with our annual trip to CES 2019 in America. The team also went to GTC 2019 in San Jose and InfoComm in Florida, showcasing the OLED transparent screen in collaboration with LG. It didn't stop there however, with trips to Korea, Chengdu, Canada, Copenhagen and much more!
Back in Newcastle, ZeroLight spent the year hosting a variety of different events within the local community. The North East DevOps meetup, Digital Union HR Breakfast and Tech on the Tyne event invited professionals onto our Quayside Terrace for industry talks and networking. We've also had schools and universities from all over the North East visit our studio for talks, activities and demo's to encourage young people to work in tech, such as our successful Girls in Tech event and work with NE1Can.
2019 saw the official introduction of ZLWell in January, our employee health and wellbeing initiative. This brought about the ZLVolunteer group who have been volunteering with a variety of different charities throughout the year, such as GoodGym, Changing Lives and FoodCycle. The ZeroLight team also held different charitable fundraisers, such as a charity lunch for Special Effect or the successful ZLStepUp challenge, raising over £1500 for Cancer Research UK!
ZeroLight were also very successful this year in winning several awards across the UK. In August we were listed in Business Cloud's top 10 most exciting technology companies in the North East. In October our CEO Darren Jobling was named in LDC's Top 50 most ambitious business leaders in the country, and ZeroLight won International Success Story at the Dynamites 2019 awards.
Our Live Works studio on the Quayside was named among the Best Workplaces in the UK at the BCO National Awards, and won the Best Office award at the North East Best Places to Work. For our ZLWell Initiative ZeroLight were shortlisted for Work/Life Balance in The British Business Awards, and last month won the award for Workplace Wellbeing at the North East Employee of the Year Awards.
If the year wasn't busy enough ZeroLight have recently doubled the number of automotive clients, and the team are working super hard with new projects, ideas and a huge step up in recruitment.
We hope the year 2020 is just as busy and just as successful as this year has been, and thank you to all of the team for working so hard! If only we had an amazing end of year seasonal party to celebrate….
