At ZeroLight, our quarterly Collaboration Weeks are a cornerstone of how we innovate, align our teams, and celebrate our shared successes. They offer a chance to step back from the day to day, and look at the bigger picture, focusing not just on the "what" of our daily tasks, but the "how" and the "why."
Taking place across three packed days, our latest Summer Collaboration Week brought the team together for strategic updates, hands-on workshops, and some well-deserved team bonding. Here is a look at some of the broader themes and workshops that defined the week.
Pushing the Boundaries of Tech and AI
With the digital landscape evolving at breakneck speed, staying on top of the latest advancements isn't just a goal, it's essential. Our AI Production Workshop was a key session dedicated to exactly that. AI is incredibly important to our current and future workflows, and ensuring we are leveraging the latest tech keeps us at the cutting edge of the industry.
We also looked ahead to the future of the company in Other Verticals Part 2. Led by Chris, this session focused on our ongoing quest to expand our technology into exciting new verticals. As an added bonus, Chris treated us to the second installment of his AI-generated film, a creation that was equal parts genius and a little bit disturbing!

Developing You: The Science of Adaptability
Collaboration Week is just as much about the people building the products as it is about the products themselves. Under our "Developing You" umbrella, we hosted a fascinating session on The Science of Adaptability. This workshop took a deep dive into the neuroscience behind fixed and growth mindsets. It served as a brilliant reminder of how crucial adaptability is, not just in a fast-paced tech environment, but in how we approach our personal development and collaborate as a team.

Refining Our Processes and Communication
Great tech needs great processes and communication behind it. To keep things running smoothly behind the scenes, Dave and Lawrie hosted a highly practical Quoting Workshop to introduce new concepts and streamline our internal workflows.
But perhaps the most challenging (and entertaining) session of the week was All Killer No Filler: Communication Skills. Led by our CEO, Darren, this interactive workshop had everyone stepping out of their comfort zones to read monologues from films. The ultimate test, however, was the dreaded 60-second speaking challenge: participants had to talk continuously without using any filler words like "erm", "fundamentally," "actually," or "like."
It was incredibly difficult, but Dave and Mhairi emerged victorious, managing to speak about entirely random topics for a full two minutes without a single filler word!

Burgers, Beers, and Sunshine
After a couple of days of workshops and strategic alignment, it was time to log off and celebrate. We headed out to the South Causey Inn for our summer social, where the team enjoyed some well-deserved beers and delicious burgers in the afternoon sunshine. To finish the week off right, we headed back into Newcastle on what quickly turned into a party bus! Our coach driver was happy to blast some summer classics, think Spice Girls and Vengaboys, keeping the energy high until we were dropped off at a fan favorite, The Bridge Tavern.
It was another brilliant Collaboration Week in the books, leaving us recharged, aligned, and ready to tackle the rest of the summer.
