On 20th December, ZeroLight hosted its famous festive party for all staff where the winners of our annual Talent Recognition Awards were announced. This year the venue was Pleased to Meet You - one of Newcastle's favourite pubs and recently named Best Spirit Bar in the UK. Closing the ZeroLight studio at 12 noon, we enjoyed an amazing three-course lunch in their newly extended restaurant before going downstairs to their private area, The Viceroy, for a free bar into the night.
Throughout November and December, we've been running our annual Talent Recognition Awards, where staff vote each week for the person they believe best embodies each of our four values - Quality First, Market Focus, Innovation and Collaboration. The winners were announced at the party by our CEO Darren.
First up was Quality First which was lifted this year by Senior 3D Artist Duncan Hall, recognised for his amazing work in environment art and for "leaving no stone unturned with regards to quality."
We then moved onto the Market Focus winner - Carsten Frentz Senior Software Engineer from our Tech Team, controversially scooping the prize, for his work in AR, from under the nose of his manager - Tech Director Chris, who came in second.
The Innovation award this year was picked up by Tech Director Craig McHugh, recognised for his creative thinking in both integrating new ideas and pushing what's possible within ZeroLight technology.
Finally, the ever-popular Collaboration award featured a crowded shortlist but was eventually won by Senior Software Engineer Ian, who, in leading our Demo Team works closely with every department in the studio, successfully coordinating demo experiences across the world.
The night was a great celebration of the achievements of these individuals and the whole ZeroLight Team. Roll on 2018!
