We've been in our new home for 7 weeks now, and you know what they say: home is where the heart is and our hearts are always set on food…

So Studio Coordinator Kirsty Little decided to take a look at the top places on the Quayside to find your most important meal of the day - lunch!

Now you think of lunch and you might think shop bought sandwich, last night's spaghetti bolognaise, tin of Heinz tomato soup…but not our lot!

And here is our top 5…

To kick us off we have IT Technician Martin, we call him the Godfather of Lunch as he adds a bit of class and raises a few eyebrows with his choices (especially when he pops out for lobster). He's given us a snap shot of his lunch from our local heroes The Head of Steam.

Here we have a pot of mussels accompanied by skinny fries and a Pepsi to wash it down, all yours for around £6. (I'm glad you gave us one of the more affordable lunches) With an exclusive 15% ZeroLight staff discount the Head of Steam is great for lunch and Friday after work beers…

Now who doesn't love a good burger? It's made its way onto our lunch time fav's but this is a veggie friendly option that meat eaters will also enjoy. So in at number 2 we have Vaughan and his pretty perfect looking Falafel Burger with huge fries from the Burger Stop.

Sticking with our larger than life lunch options we have a very colourful sandwich from a new comer onto the ZeroLight lunch scene: Doyles of Dean Street.

Our Associate Marketing Director Joe submitted this entry, in Joe's true colourful style it has almost everything you could ask for in one sandwich! A well-deserved place at number 3

Our number 4 is a healthy option from Studio Coordinator Melissa and this little box of nutrition comes from Made Deli, another new discovery from the ZeroLight team. It's a light but filling lunch and the Deli have lots of combinations to choose from.

Last, but not least our number 5 spot goes to the Baltic Kitchen, it's across the river but not far from our head-quarters. The Baltic offers a higher value lunch in terms of quality than some of the others and is worth a walk over to take in the amazing views along the Tyne. Here we have sweet potato and butternut squash soup with sour dough bread accompanied by sweet potato fries. Perfect on a winter day!
