After being a platinum sponsor and keynote speaker at last year's event, our team returned to Amsterdam for this year's Unite Europe. Thanks to our experience last year and at our very own Unity event, we know these conferences are great vehicles for networking and collective learning. Fresh off the plane, we sat down with Carlos, our Associate Software Engineer, and Chris, our Technical Director, to see how they found it.
The three-day event kicked off with talks on source code and speeches from Unity at the incredible Theater Amsterdam, in the west district of the city. The keynote talks were fantastic, highlighting loads of new features that we can incorporate into our work. Carlos tells me he found the organisation of the day almost as impressive as the content: they saw demos and showcases of all the new features and heard from several experts with seamless transitions between each talk and demo.
After the first day, the team moved round the corner to the beautiful Westergasfabriek, a gasworks-turned-cultural venue, for the two conference and expo days. They attended a variety of talks over the remainder of the event and heard first-hand about the year's upcoming features from the Unity developers. The team are particularly excited by the Scriptable Render Pipeline and SIMD support for Unity's C# compiler and look forward to using features like these in future projects. Despite their tight schedule of talks and demos, the team still had time to network with inspiring industry professionals from across the continent and check out loads of cool new tech being showcased across the various booths.
