Last month some of the UK ZeroLight Team were lucky enough to visit our Chengdu Studio in China. Our Senior 3D Artist Julie is a regular at the studio, visiting several times a year to provide training sessions on the cutting-edge techniques being developed by our Art and Tech Teams, but this was the first visit by our COO Arwen and IT Manager Michael.
Arwen's remit whilst out in Chengdu was to give a business presentation to the team - updating them on the great client feedback and the many developments from the UK studio whilst also introducing new procedures and systems already in effect in the UK. Michael's task was to improve the IT infrastructure between China and the UK, and he also took the opportunity to take a Vive & VE kit over to the studio so the Artists could experience first-hand the finished product they have created assets for.
It was great to see the Chengdu team in action. Having worked with them since 2007, they are an exceptionally dedicated and talented team continually contributing and building upon the innovative work of ZeroLight with their work in 3D modelling and environments.
It wasn't all work for the UK team though! They were treated to a full itinerary of local sights including the Chengdu Panda Research Centre and the Wenshu Monastery. They also enjoyed all the benefits of Chinese hospitality with lunch and dinner every day (including one of the best vegetarian restaurants!).
The visit was a great success for all concerned and despite being caught in the travel mayhem of caused by Storm Doris on the return leg (resulting in a journey time of 56 hours!), the team are all keen for another visit.
